Find a store near youRetailer vs manufacturer: what's the difference?
A multi-brand retailer like Mattress City buys mattresses from different companies and sells them side by side in its showrooms. A manufacturer like MLILY makes the mattress itself, from the foam to the finished product, and then partners with retailers so you can find it close to home.
Mattress City: a multi-brand retailer
Mattress City opened its first store in Pasadena, California, in 2007 and grew into a family-owned local chain. It carried a range of national mattress brands, along with bedding and bedroom accessories, and offered free local delivery around Pasadena. It was a good fit if you lived nearby and wanted to compare several brands under one roof. As of September 2026, it looks like all stores have closed.
MLILY: the manufacturer behind the mattress
MLILY is one of the largest memory foam producers in the world. Our founder designed the machines we use to make our patented foams, and we control every step from foam pouring to the finished mattress in our factories in South Carolina and Arizona. Every MLILY mattress is endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association and backed by a 10-year limited warranty.
Because we are the manufacturer, you get the same MLILY quality at every one of our 1,500+ retail partners, from local sleep shops to regional furniture stores.
